Luisa Collina

Degree in Architecture, Ph.D. in Technical Innovation & Project in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano.
Full Professor of the Design Faculty of the Politecnico di Milano, Study Course in Interior Design and Product Service System Design.
Her main interests concern interior design (especially in the field of residential buildings, retail, hospitality) as well as technological and design driven innovation.

She has co- operated to some researches financed by the Ministry of Scientific Research, among which "The typological flexibility in the residential design" (directed by Antonio Scoccimarro), "The role of the Industrial Design for product's innovation. Development of projecting resources of Italian-System between local resources and global markets" (directed by Ezio Manzini).

Hospitality has been the focus of many activities both in the field of education as well as of research.
Since the academic year 2002/2003 she runs the design studio ¡°Metadesign for hospitality¡± and she has been tutor of several final thesis on the same topic.
In the academic year 2003/04, ¡°Design for Tourism¡± has been the title of the new master course designed by Luisa Collina together with Norman Mc Nally of Glasgow School of Art for the Universidad Pablo de Olavide of Seville (Spain).
On the same topic she has coordinate in April 2004 the participation of the Politecnico di Milano Design School to ¡°Dining Design¡±, the exhibition of Adam Tihany, organized within the International Furniture Fair of Milan, with a project of a Chinese Restaurant in Rome.
Hospitality has been the titele of the Designing Designers conference organized within the same edition of the Milan Furniture Fair.
She has taken part in the years 2002-2004 to the research financed by the Italian Ministry for University ¡°Me.Design. Design for the Mediterranean Area¡±.
She has written many articles and texts on the relation between hotels and design. Among the others:

Since 2000 she has been in charge of the international relations and projects of the Faculty and INDACO Department (Department of Industrial design, Art, Communication and Fashion) at Politecnico di Milano.
She collaborates with universities, research centres and companies in international research programs and strategic innovation projects in the design field. She has been project coordinator of some of these international projects, for example:

In 2004 she has been elected in the executive board of Politecnico di Milano.

Since academic year 2005/2006, she coordinates a new master course of Politecnico di Milano ( taught in English) in Product-Service-System Design designed for international students.
